::CONFIRMATION::

The process of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation at Emmaus is CHANGING.  If you have any questions, please contact Kristen Baucher in the Office of Faith Formation.

Step 1: Attend a Parent and Student Orientation Meeting. This meeting will answer ALL of your questions about the program! The next meetings will be held September 7th and 8th at 7:00-8:00 pm in the youth center.  Parents may attend either session.  If you are unable to attend, you must meet with Kristen to go over any information that you might have missed.

Step 2:  Students begin attending Sunday Night Live on Sunday night at 6pm during the freshman year.  This is a necessary component of the preparation process.  This is where a considerable amount of formation happens—catechetical, spiritual, and communal. Teens must attend Sunday Night Live for at least one year before beginning the Confirmation classes (this is according to diocesan policy). If teens do not attend as freshman, they will need to attend all of sophomore year and then they would begin the Confirmation process the following year.

Step 3:  Students will attend Sunday Night Live their sophomore year and will have a separate "Confirmation track," using the Life Teen ONE EIGHT Confirmation Program. This means no more Wednesday night classes. Students are expected to attend all Sunday night Confirmation classes. We understand things come up. In the event of an absence, please contact Kristen to receive make-up work. These Confirmation classes will go on for all of sophomore year. Teens can be older than sophomores to go through this process. The Confirmation classes will take place the year following a completed year of Sunday Night Live, so these classes may take place sophomore or junior year, depending on when a teen starts the process.

Step: 4:  Students attend the Confirmation Retreat in the August after they have completed their Confirmation classes.  A retreat is a diocesan requirement as well as a wonderful opportunity for your students to grow in faith.

Step 5:  Students arrange 3 meetings with their sponsor using material we provide.  This will give student and sponsor an opportunity to grow in faith together.

Step 6:  Students attend rehearsal with sponsor on the day before the celebration of Confirmation.

Step 7:  Confirmation Liturgy at the 5:00 pm Youth Mass on a Sunday in October celebrated by our Bishop. This will be in the October following a teen's completion of their year of Confirmation classes.
