Eucharistic Celebration
The most important aspect of liturgical worship is the Eucharist, which is why another term for Mass is “Eucharistic Celebration.” The Eucharist as the climax of the Mass, makes present the sacrifice that Christ made on behalf of mankind to establish the New Covenant with God -- namely, his Body and Blood on the cross. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our salvation, as receiving the physical Body and Blood of Christ is the ultimate act of communion with our Lord, the most intimate act in our relationship with him. Jesus is actually physically present in both the Word and the Eucharist, hence the two-fold structure of the Mass: Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist.
