Eucharistic Celebration
The most important aspect of liturgical worship is the Eucharist, which is why another term for Mass is “Eucharistic Celebration.” The Eucharist makes present the sacrifice that Christ made on behalf of mankind to establish the New Covenant with God. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our salvation, as receiving the physical Body and Blood of Christ is the ultimate act of communion with our Lord. That said, all aspects of the Liturgy lend themselves to worship in a variety of ways, ultimately culminating in the Eucharist, hence the two-fold structure of the Mass: Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist.
