Our policies for participation in the Youth Band are as follows:
First and foremost, the Youth Band exists to uplift what takes place in the Eucharist. For that to happen, there are three main criteria to be met by each member: 1) musical talent 2) good dynamic within the group 3) understanding of and reverence for worship in the Mass.
High school and young adult singers - we want your involvement! The success of a Youth Mass is largely dependent upon the involvement of the youth, and with music as such an integral part of our worship, we need young voices to help lead. If you are interested in auditioning for a role as a singer in the Youth Band, please contact the Director of Music for Youth Ministry.
Currently, instrumental roles are sufficiently filled and additional spaces are by invitation only. If you feel you have a talent that you see a need for in the Youth Band, please contact us! We are more than happy to accommodate various roles where appropriate and as needed, especially for larger special Masses and celebrations, like Christmas and Easter. There are also positions as fill-in substitute players available, for when the regular members of the band are unable to attend. If you'd like to be considered as a substitute player or would like to contribute to music outisde of the Mass, such as for Sunday Night Live, please contact us to let us know.
In summary, the ministry that is the Youth Band is primarily in service to the highest Liturgy of the Mass, and is to function as a quality tool for leading musical worship. We regret that this may not include everyone who wants to be in the band, but as such a ministry, the focus has to remain on prayerfully and energetically pointing people towards Christ and uplifting the Eucharistic celebration.
